Lyrics

Waves coming crashing down
On sands of gold and brown
Lake Superior, You great inland sea.

Rocks on a sandy shore
Cliffs climbing ever towards
The sky o’er the great inland sea.

Oh, you make me feel small
But not inferior.
Oh, you make me feel small,
But not inferior. I feel strong, not wearier.
Oh, you make me feel small
But not inferior
Oh, it makes me feel small,
Swimming in Lake Superior.

I hear the scream of the eagle’s call
As it circles the waterfall,
And they plunge together down to the great inland sea.

Oh, you make me feel small
But not inferior.
Oh, you make me feel small,
But not inferior. I feel strong, not wearier.
Oh, you make me feel small
But not inferior
Oh, it makes me feel small,
Swimming in Lake Superior.

The water’s bracing and cold.
It embraces, enfolds me.
And submerged under water,
I know I am a daughter
Of this great inland sea.

Oh, you make me feel small
But not inferior.
Oh, you make me feel small,
But not inferior. I feel strong, not wearier.
Oh, you make me feel small
But not inferior
Oh, it makes me feel small,
Swimming in Lake Superior.
Swimming in Lake Superior.
